          william wade and bradley martin received pharmacy practice award

          two college of pharmacy faculty members, william wade, professor and associate department head, and bradley martin, an associate professor, received the pharmacy practice award from the american society of health-system pharmacists research and education foundation.

          the award was given for their article “cost/death averted with venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in patients undergoing total knee replacement or knee arthroplasty.”

          selection for the award is based on outstanding contributions to the scientific literature of ­pharmacy practice in health systems, including pharmacoeconomics. nominees must have an appointment to the staff of a health system, be enrolled in or teaching in a college of pharmacy or be a pharmacy resident in a health system. the award, which consisted of a $4,000 honorarium and a plaque, was presented at the annual ashp mid-year.
